The "DOHC Turbo" As it is mainly know as was first produced in 1986. It came with a 1600cc DOHC Turbo engine. Power output was 100Kw ( 135Hp) at the flywheel, running 8 pound boost. I must say this is bloody good for a car that is almost 15 years old.
My familia had a 2 1/4 " exhaust with Turbo flow muffler and K&N filter as its only mods. This meant the max boost level was raised to the factory limited amount of 10 pound. This was where the stock ECU fuel cut would kick in to stop the car from boosting any higher. At this boost level The car would have been producing about 150Hp. This fuel cut can be avoided by disconencting the electronic sensor that reads the boost level by the simple operation of disconencting a certian wire. This lets the car boost right out to about 13 pound. Starts to really haul arse then. The only problem here is detonation. The car would have probably another 10 - 15 hp at this point.
